Pustolovina: adventure in Serbian

nightmare team

A coworker just pointed this out to me.

It's like when there's a special edition comic book when the two warring villians team up to take out our hero... or a silly action movie where the Russians and the IRA and the Arabs all get together to get our hero, but it's real.

There isn't a hero full of goodness and light in this story, but I would argue that there is now definately a villain.

(And yes, I am working on a Sunday.)

    Dear Rachel,

I can only compare Kosovo to a rather violent and delinquent member of a family who's beaten and battered all the other members of his family. They also beat him back, but they still want him to stay living with them, instead of sending him to a mental institution. I think it's hight time for the Sebs to cut thier loses and get a "restraining order" and build a Chinese wall at the border with Kosovo. By the way, I distinctly remember an issue on Newsweek from the late 80's explaining that "rape" is a normal occurance in the Balkans, of course, this was published when the Serbian women were being raped. The expression "ethnic cleansing" was actually (surprise, surprise) coined by the Communist officials to describe what was happening to the Serbian population in Kosovo in the 80's. It's kind of ironic, and I suggest you ask around about this -- all the facts are still out there.

    best,

    Milica

P.S. Reality is not black and white, there are a lot of shades of gray.

    bdw,

I don't want you to think that I'm 100 years old... I was a (young) teenager in the 80's, and I remember my parents being upset about the article that I mentioned.

You are right that reality is shades of gray, but even with shades of gray pure black appears occassionally.

In my book, Falwell and Robertson are pure black.
